Daily Lessons from Life 07-08 March 2013 - What's Going On?

Met up with long time friend and his wife for dinner last night in Bangkok. Wonderful to meet up with friends always whenever I am on the road as friends are the ones that make the cities or countries meaningful and memorable. Otherwise, the places are just another destination for work!!

Do we know our stuffs? Our earth? This sinkhole or these sinkholes reported in Singapore had not claimed any life yet unlike the recently one reported in Florida when a man fell into a sinkhole that developed right under his bed!!

What's going on? Will the scientists and engineers who studied soils be able to explain? I am they can but it is scary that the sinkholes can develop out of nowhere!!

SEOUL - North Korea announced Friday it was voiding non-aggression pacts with South Korea and severing a hotline with Seoul, hours after the UN Security Council adopted tough new sanctions on Pyongyang.

The announcement ramped up tensions on the Korean peninsula that have surged since the North staged a third nuclear test last month. On Thursday, the country threatened a pre-emptive nuclear strike against the United States."

Was just listening to the CNN News while in Bangkok that Dennis Rodman, the ex-NBA champions of Chicago Bulls fame trying to get President Obama to call the North Korea leader, Mr Kim, as he is keen to talk 'peace' and maybe basketball. This was brushed off by the establishment as Dennis is not a serious foreign affairs guy! And NOW this 'threat' and breaking off from the 'peace' treaty with South Korea!

What's going on? Is the North going the whole hog this time or just another 'bloody noisy sabre rattling'! Will a bluff at some point in time goes awry?? With catastrophic consequence!!

A sudden rush of blood to claim Sabah for its own? With arms and armed men to boot! In the dawn of an anticipated General Election coming up within weeks, the Malaysian government and the national leaders have decided to play hard ball after more than 60 lives were lost, from both sides, and would not negotiate unless the armed intruders surrender unconditionally!



It will be interesting to see how this episode leads to ... More bloodshed and deeper animosity for a long long time?!!?
