Daily Lessons from Life 19 February 2013 - An Open Letter to PM Lee

A fictitious loyal PAP grassroots leader named, Tan Ah Kow, wrote an impassioned open letter to PM Lee has gone viral according to some of my friends who sent me the email.

I will leave the readers to find the actual emails but suffice to say he or she has articulated very well some of the despairs and confusion loyal PAP supporters must be feeling lately. Or more correctly, the last 7-8 years!!

WHERE is PAP heading?

Lessons for me are:

1. they are not paying attention to what they say: We have learned our lessons. We will change. BUT they did not!;

2. worst, their actual behaviors betrayed their promises that: we have learned our lessons. We will change for the better. BUT they did not!!;

3. is it easy to run Singapore at this point in time? NO! It is definitely more complicated and complex and perplexing to national leaders as to WHY the people, some or most of them, do not seem to appreciate whatever the national leaders are trying to do for the GOOD of the people??

In fact, some even resorted to calling some or these PEOPLE ungrateful. Ingrates!!

Is this just a matter of where you are on the social ladder? From different positions, the problems appeared to be different.

Regardless, a national leader has to be looking at the situation from ALL the positions of his or her people. That means: high, middle and low.

Did the national leader actually do it? Maybe. But more likely to be 'not' as the unhappiness among Singaporeans who used to be die-hard fans of the ruling party are turning. THAT cannot be good!!

That MUST be acknowledged as 'we missed the plot'!!

For Singapore's sake, I still harbour hope that PM Lee will truly listen. Truly learn from the many mistakes and do the right things despite the 'it is not an easy situation' exclamation.
