"Lance Armstrong, arrogant and unaware, did little to repair his image in mea culpa with Oprah Yahoo! Friday 18 January 2013
Across 90 minutes with Oprah Winfrey, Lance Armstrong did more than admit he cheated to win his seven Tour de France titles. He revealed a measure of the man that he is and this much is certain: If you never met this jerk, well, count your blessings.
Defiant, distant, difficult.
Arrogant, unaware, flippant."
Was going to leave this sage alone BUT, you guessed it, I was simply stumped at what Lance Armstrong is trying to do here - to repent or to declare that he did not deserve a life ban and would like to, if allowed, to compete again!
Lessons for me are:
1. as I suspected when he picked Oprah's Network to do this deal if he is trying to find some reasons for people to continue to support and believe him, at least for his 'reluctance' or 'involuntary involvement in doping' as EVERYONE is doing it!!;
2. He, at one point, said he did it because he wants his kid to STOP DEFENDING him as he is 'guilty'. What about those who were misled, or inspired, by his 'legendary courage, strength, and determination' to overcome cancer and become the cycling sports greatest athlete? Maybe he is assuming they are ALL OK with this 'big lie that he had repeated often' and not affected by the smashed 'halo'? Hopefully they are NOT but it is more likely many will felt cheated and confused;
3. his 'request' or 'hope' to be allowed to compete again is simply preposterous! He said he deserved the punishment but not a death sentence! Yes, he does not deserve a death sentence. In fact, no one deserved a death sentence for sporting cheat but the punishment has to fit the crime of 'deliberately and systematically cheat while deploying a bullying or 'sabotaging' any opponents who tried to raise the lid on the scam!
I WILL NOT comment on the so-called Lance Armstrong's saga anymore. Everyone will have to make their own judgement on this man
