Daily Lessons from Life 06-08 November 2009

Went up to Beijing (BJ) to attend the wedding banquet of my ex-Motorola supervisor and a great friend from 6-8 November 2009.

It is a great honor and privilege to be able to attend his wedding banquet. He is a very successful man who remained humble and caring of his friends.

I have benefited a lot from his generosity and friendship since I got to know him in 1994 when I worked for the North Asia Paging Subscribers Operations in Beijing. It subsequent grown to a US$ billion over dollar business and was named Greater China Paging Subscribers Division (GCPSD). It was a glorious time as the GCPSD business set record high after record high sales and net profit!

It was a time where we focused on working and solving problems than politicking. A time when the USA headquarter listened to the input from the local folks in Asia, in particular China, and specifically GCPSD Management where he is the VP, General Manager. It was one of my most enjoyable career phases! We all work very hard and smart and play very hard and smart. Things get done quickly as a lot of R&D decisions were originated &/or made by the Asian team. We have a team of USA senior executives who also understand Asia and listen to the GCPSD input.

So much for counting the past glories! ;-)

The occasion most important moment are: celebration of his marriage, celebration of the 10-30+ years of friendship of the invited guests and him, the many side dishes dished out by the organizing committee to enliven the night, and the willingness and sportiness of the newly wedded couple to play along!

I want to wish them a happy and fulfilling marriage and a wonderful journey as partners in life.

p/s: He has the heart and prsence of mind to record a short video for our friend, Mr. YF Tan, who sufferred a stroke early this year and is in the recovery phase, by the guests who know him but had not visited in Singapore since the stroke to say a few words of encouragement to YF to continue on his path to full recovery!

p/s: In China, the Blog website is blocked again! So, leave the Headlines alone and decided to focused on the wedding and the significance and the people who he brought together to meet after a long break in seeing each others!
