Hi there. I could not blog as I was in Vietnam and it seems that blogspot.com is blocked. Just like in PRC!! Is this an coincidence that both are communist countries? :-)
It is another frustrating experience while overseas!
Anyway, life goes on as the power that be is not going to change for a foreign visitor! LOL!!
So, from 06-09 September 2010, are there anything worth pondering over to enlighten me?
The one that caught my ears and eyes was the interview in CNN with Raul, the Imam in the New York City Islamic Center controversy last night.
Lessons for me are:
1. in media crazy or dominated USA, any news can be a big national and international news if someone in the media so decide to give it wide publicity!;
2. apparently this plan has been going on for a while until it became a hot issue with the 'families and friends of the victims of the 9/11 terrorists' attack' (or so-called: 'families and friends') objected to it as being insensitive and even an 'insult' to those who perished in that tragic incident;
3. the Imam, while a learned man, was not convincing in my opinion when challenged by the interviewer on why he could not just pull the plug on the project to make peace and calm emotion? For me the answer is very simple: Quote extensively secular psychiatrists' studies that highlighted: to move on you need to confront the issues and then 'let go'! 9/11 is 9 years old! People died. The 'normal' Muslims are ashamed of what those so-called 'Muslim Terrorists' have done - killing innocent people in the name of Islam. It has nothing to do with anything else. Most Muslims are peace loving people just like the peace loving Jews, Christians, Taoist, Buddhists, Catholics, etc, etc!!
Notes: On top of this controversy, the small little church in Floria is going to organize a 'Koran Burning' Ceremony in their own church own congregation of about 50, supposedly, and is getting SO MUCH media attention that the White House, the State Secretary, the Religious Leaders of all faith in the USA, the Commander of the US Forces in Afghanistan, etc ALL weighed in to condemn this. Guessed what? It become the HOTTEST talking point in the USA!! There lies the POWER of media!! Sad? Sick? Or what? ....
p/s: Oh, then there is this Japan coast guard arrested a PRC fishing boat captain in 'disputed' water. Looks like the world is not tired of controversies and antagonism!!
